Steven Clark has successfully represented clients throughout the State of Texas since 1980, and has been licensed to practice law in Texas since May, 1978. Mr. Clark concentrates his practice on business, commercial litigation, construction, employment and labor law, and general civil litigation. He advises business clients and has assisted them in the formation of entities, review and drafting of agreements, and the acquisition and sale of assets. During his career, Mr. Clark has lectured and written on subjects such as choice of business entity considerations, trade secrets, non-competition agreements, partnerships, construction law, employment law, and the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

Mr. Clark is Lead Counsel rated in Business Law.

Mr. Clark is also a Texas Super Lawyer in Labor and Employment Law. He authored a book on Texas Employment Law Forms, does an annual update for Texas Employment Law on the Family Medical Leave Act, and is an annual contributor on FMLA case summaries for the ABA Midwinter Committee Report.  He also is a contributor on U.S. labor and employment for the World Bank Group’s Doing Business publication series.

Mr. Clark has testified numerous times as an expert witness in both state and federal court on reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses.

Representative Client Matters

• Representing businesses in DOL and TWC Audits on wage and overtime issues
• Business Litigation: Representing franchisee in lawsuit brought by an international restaurant chain after termination of the franchise agreement. Issues include alleged violations of the Lanham Act and 42 U.S.C. § 1981.
• Construction: Advisory counsel for Italian construction company on issues relating to the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge across the Trinity River Corridor in Dallas, Texas; representation of construction contractors and subcontractors in commercial projects and related contract and employment matters
• Employment and Labor: Representing companies in defense of overtime and minimum wage claims under Fair Labor Standards Act.
• Representation of staffing companies in contract and employment matters
• Formation of business entities and related advice and contract drafting, including purchase and sale of businesses
